Wu Goes Plastic...Again!
Now that Jason Wu is a household name, he’s being kept on watch by the fashion world. If you aren't familiar with Wu's early work as a designer of doll fashions, now you are. Even though he's known to keep a life-size lady cute, he still touches back on his olden days. His latest plastic collection marks the debut of his Fall 2009 collection at Colette in Paris, which will hit the store this week. The limited-edition Colette doll sells for €215. Wu chose look 20: a belted ivory cashmere coat with a fairylike feather-embroidered hem.
“Doing a doll is like drawing a caricature,” Wu explains. “You don’t render all the details, just the most distinctive ones. That’s why it has to be a fun look.”
