Syesha Mercado

Syesha Raquel Mercado (born January 3, 1987) is a singer-songwriter, actress, and was the third place contestant on American Idol season 7. At the 2005 Florida Theatre Conference and the 2005 South Eastern Theater Conference Syesha won "Best Supporting Actress" for her role as the Sour Kangaroo in Seussical the Musical.[4] Mercado also appeared as a contestant on the failed ABC talent show, The One: Making a Music Star in summer 2006.[5] She currently resides and attends Florida International University in Miami, Florida.

Jason Castro

Jason René Castro (born March 25, 1987) is a Colombian-American[1] singer and was the 4th place finalist on the seventh season of the television series, American Idol. Castro's rendition of the song "Hallelujah" performed on American Idol, combined wih the judges' favorable comments, propelled viewers to the iTunes Store to download the Jeff Buckley cover of the Leonard Cohen song, which propelled it to the #1 spot on iTunes' singles chart.[citation needed] Buckley's version of the song sold 178,000 digital downloads in the week following Castro's performance, to debut at #1 on Billboard's Hot Digital Songs chart.[citation needed] According to the March 22, 2008 issue of Billboard this was the highest boost in digital sales a song had ever received after being performed by a contestant on American Idol. {{Fact|date=April 2008} It was the first time Buckley's version of the song charted on a Billboard chart, as well as the first U.S. number one song on any chart for Buckley, who died May 29, 1997 at age 30. Also, Castro's version briefly appeared in the number one spot on the iTunes chart before it was removed due to American Idol not wanting any contesant to be favored.
