Men You Should Know

These days Guilherme Valadares asked what was the target of Papo de Homem. He responded with letters: men who will not settle for less.
Therefore, Sir Richard Branson has everything to do with our troops. The billionaire founder of Virgin Group is an entrepreneur who is not afraid to be different, live life to its fullest potential and wants to change the world. Bag-purple.
One could write a whole series of posts about Richard Branson, speaking about his accomplishments and adventures with balloons, breaking records across oceans or planning galactic travel. Beyond business, of course.

Happy for that, my dear? The empire of man Just to have a brief idea, here are some four hundred of their businesses and social enterprises:

* Virgin Green Fund, investing in renewable energy and efficient use of natural resources;

* Virgin Earth Challenge prize of 25 million to encourage development of viable technology to remove gases associated with the anthropogenic greenhouse effect;

* Virgin Unite, nonprofit foundation that focuses on entrepreneurial approaches to social and environmental matters;

* The Elders, a group of experienced activists and politicians who have ended their careers and now they can use their wisdom and integrity to make a difference on issues of global importance, including the fight against trafficking of women who recently mentioned in # debatepdh;

* Virgin Mobile, which has services to allow you to block some crazy numbers after a certain time, to avoid waking up the next morning beside the wrong person. Or the service of automatic connection to pretend that a friend needs help urgently, and sneak out on a blind date that went wrong;

* Virgin Airways, an airline that has a goldfish for a boy who was his friend who had detained at an airport in South Africa;

* Virgin Records, which was the first great success and brought names like Mike Oldfield, Fri Pistols, Phil Collins, Boy George and Janet Jackson (with much heartache, this brand was sold to EMI to save the airline's operations) .
Branson's adventures are well documented in the book Losing My Virginity and its business vision is presented in the Business Stripped Bare.

I imagine that readers can PdH also like reading these works, mainly because of elements similar to Branson and we propose here. To illustrate the parallel use of three texts of old-school PapodeHomem: 1. Combining the passion and the money for success

Branson has always excelled in sports but I was lousy in school. Some teachers speculated that he was dyslexic.
At 16, he rode with a friend of the magazine Student. Was in charge of commercial operations, seeking to advertisers: the intervals of school, went to a pay phone and asked the operator connects you with potential sponsors, using it as alleged desk and giving an air of seniority.
The magazine connected students and took up issues of social importance, such as teenage pregnancy and suicide attempts. The social side was always present in the initiatives of Branson and is one of the factors of success.
The business began to prosper and, when traffic increased, Branson decided to quit school. The director told him, "Branson, of two things: either you become a millionaire, or you'll end up in jail." Both predictions came true.
Branson used the magazine to start a service selling records by mail. As some were international operations in a fiscal mess, was arrested by customs authorities and released on bail.
After the catalog sales, Virgin opened its first store on Oxford Street in London, followed by a studio. Do not think it was coincidence that Branson has returned its first major success in the music business: he's a big party animal! In the last meeting of officials of the Virgin, he gathered more than 7,000 employees and family at their cottage, they camped in the backyard and enjoyed live music from great bands.
And not just in the music business that Branson has built upon its art with passion to deliver value to consumers and profit billion: Necker Island, his personal island in the Virgin Islands is used for sightseeing, partying and networking with great leaders..

The island's face 2. Living life to the fullest is no stupidity

Branson initiatives are always compared the struggle between David and Goliath, as the Virgin always looking for industries where there is a field and market consolidation in the hand of a player who was too confident.
When he began his airline, the CEO of the powerful British Airways joked pointing out that Branson was too old to rock and roll and too young to fly.
As operations expanded and the Virgin was celebrated by consumers as a company more fun, attentive to small details and more cost-effective, had to face the dirty game of British Airways after going over case against monopoly and unfair practices.
A similar confrontation occurred in the launch of Virgin Cola's main competitor saw that their market was threatened and used its power to intimidate sellers not to keep the soda on the shelves of Virgin, otherwise it would boycott the traders cut their freezers. This was a fight in which the Virgin lost heavily, though Virgin Cola still be a hit ... in Bangladesh.

Can you find the 74 bands referenced in this picture? A guy has listed 62 here.
This life without fear of facing corporate giants is also revealed in his passion for sporting challenges. He almost died several times, but no regrets, as is clear in a written message to the children when he was in a situation close to death in a balloon:

"Dear Holly and Sam, life can be surreal at times. Healthy and live one day. And no longer here the other day. As you both know, I always had the desire to live life to the fullest of their potential. That means I was lucky to live the life of many people throughout my 46 years. I loved every minute of it, and especially loved every second of my time with you and Mom.

I know that many people thought we were foolish to embark on this latest adventure. I was convinced they were wrong. I felt that everything we learned in our adventures in the Atlantic and Pacific would mean we would have a safe trip. I thought the risks were acceptable. Obviously I was wrong.

But I do not regret anything about my life but not with Joan to finally help develop you. At the age of 12 and 15 you had already developed their personalities. We are both very proud of you. Joan and I can not want more children lovely. You are both gentle, respectful, full of life (even known!). What else could we want?

Be strong. I know it will not be easy. But we live a wonderful life together and you will never forget all the good times we had.

Live life to the fullest as well. Enjoy every minute of it. Mom's love and care as if it were me and her together in one person.

Love you,

Daddy. "

Text inaugural PdH on a mission to develop the significance of lifestyle

Finally, I return to the beginning of PdH. When we put our purpose in developing the concept of lifestyle and his direct experience in life.
What is the lifestyle that a true man wants and deserves?
Some think it is a millionaire to live in income, leaving all kinds of work for living a hedonistic and lazy on the beach ... it really is it? What this man needs to know what you think?
It is speculated that the personal fortune of Richard Branson is between two to three billion pounds. Enough to retire. Why, then, he remains engaged in many new ventures? Have not accumulated enough money?
Not so says Branson thinking. For him, money is only interesting as a feature that allows you to do things. The money is not representative of success in life (and the world of celebrity fame and guides are even worse for measuring success).
In a recent interview, said: "Success is when we create something that we can be proud."
Richard Branson takes this path of success and sees their efforts as entrepreneurs lifestyle and legacy to the world.
As an example, for the entire next decade will dedicate 100% of profits from its transportation companies (Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Trains) to develop renewable energy technologies. The investment, of course, goes for Virgin Fuels.
But what is, after all, the Virgin? How to explain this strange company that has a gym, financial services and many others that were not mentioned? What is the focus?
The answer is short and simple lifestyle.
Through his personal life and approach to business, Branson has managed to turn the Virgin brand in a gay lifestyle, daring and irreverent attitude.

PapodeHomem in its infancy. What you see there? A web page? Leveraging ... How do you see PapodeHomem?
I found it fascinating to do research on Richard Branson came to me and a great curiosity: what the brand Papo de Man mean to you? What you see in the future possibilities of this project?
