Top Ten Trends

Fashion world is all geared up for Resort 2010 and LLM, along with inside help from the know-it-all's at Style.com is here to inform you of what designers are getting into for the season.

1. There is now proof that Resort season is now an all-weather season. With leather being everywhere, there is no reason for people not to be in the know. Phoebe Philo at Celine made a leather coat cut right for minimalist and leather toppers were a hit for Christopher Kane and Nicolas Ghesquière. So pull out those "Grease" leathers and lets make magic baby!

2. Any one up for some scuba diving? Graphic elements wee combined with aspects of body con and active sportswear this season. You can see it all over Proenza Schouler and Phi, along with Richard Nicoll's Cruise debut. It's looks a lot better than it sounds, trust me.

3. As you know print is in - but with a twist. Designers are mixing prints every which way to make a unique but still awesome look. Over at Prada there was a mash-up of primary-colored scarf prints, Lanvin gave bouquets of florals, along with Erdem and Zac Posen. It makes a great look and you could do it without the hefty pricetag.

4. There's no need for you ladies to sneak into your boyfriends' closet anymore. Don't be ashamed because the tomboy look is still in for Resort. There was more of a slouch look at Burberry, whereas 3.1 Phillip Lim gave you schoolboy (realness, lol). It can be a great look, as long as you do it right.

5. Dropped-crotch trousers were "all the rage" over at YSL, who did it with a scarf head wrao and at Givenchy, who paried it with a litte sporty, boyish jacket. Style says to picture Yves Saint Laurent and his crew in North Africa, and you've got the idea. Not my favorite look, but it is cute.

6. The season wasn't all dasies and roses with the floral. With looks for the hunter and the hunted, given by Tory Burch and Alberta Ferretti, there was enough for everyone. Both designers worked classic khaki up into safari looks with an urban edge, while there were fierce animal prints to be spotted at Chloé and Christian Dior.

7. Only the fashion fool couldn't tell who this dress was designed by. If you guessed McQueen, ask the person next to you to pat you on the back. The whole sheer and transparent look wasn't something I was expecting to be trendy with the designers but they embracedit with open arms. Subtle reveal/conceal details were shown on cocktail dressing at Calvin Klein Collection and Oscar de la Renta, giving it that frisson feel.

8. Lamé was the queen of the ball for the season if you ask me. With Marc Jacobs reprising Kate Moss' shimmering Costume Institute number for Resort and offering gilded separates that can stand the light of day, lamé was DEFINTELY the center of attention. I can't forget about over in London, where Roksanda Ilincic took a shine to copper.

9. Nothing gets the romantic mood out of designers more than a look-at-me red that was continued from Fall season. Donna Karan had the hue that gave a summery skirt some tango kick and Bottega Veneta's objective was clearly far from business with tomato red suits rather than the basic black.

10. Obviously if your going to name a season after the cruise you can ask for nothing moe but the nautical look, right? At LV there was a coquettish French twist and Jacobs and Lam came on board with a mix of stripes and prints to set the atmosphere off just right.

Hope you take heed. We don't need our readers out the loop, right? ;-)
